As thousands of people lined the stony pathways leading to Pirates Cove, an elderly man made his way down to the water to publicly express his commitment to the Lord. It was a moment the 85-year-old man’s family thought would never come, yet the eternal decision was made Saturday during a mass baptism hosted by Pastor Greg Laurie, an event that saw 4,500 people submerged in water over the course of a faith-filled day.
The event, inspired by “Jesus Revolution,” a hit film depicting events surrounding the Jesus movement of the late 1960s and 1970s — a time of spiritual transformation when young people, tired and desperate from a challenging culture, turned to Christ in droves. The film, among other powerful stories, weaves in Laurie’s journey from a lost young man experimenting with drugs and trying to find his way to a Christian, husband, and revered preacher. The film’s global impact continues to reverberate, with Saturday’s baptism drawing people from across the globe.
“At one point, the line really got slowed down because an older couple — the gentleman was 85 years old — was taking longer to get down the stairs,” Laurie told CBN’s Faithwire. “But when we met him, his story was so amazing because he watched the movie at 85 years old and accepted Jesus into his life.” Laurie said the man “was not a believer” before seeing the movie, but that he accepted Christ afterward, and then headed to Pirate’s Cove — the location Laurie himself was baptized as a young man — to publicly affirm his faith in Jesus.
“His family said, ‘We never. ever thought he would come to Christ,” Laurie said. The man is just one of many to be ministered to through “Jesus Revolution,” with great storytelling helping bring him along the path to better understand the Gospel message.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that fiat currencies across the globe, including the U.S. Dollar, are under attack. Paper money is losing its value, translating into insane inflation and less value in our life’s savings.
Genesis Gold Group believes physical precious metals are an amazing option for those seeking to move their wealth or retirement to higher ground. Whether Central Bank Digital Currencies replace current fiat currencies or not, precious metals are poised to retain or even increase in value. This is why central banks and mega-asset managers like BlackRock are moving much of their holdings to precious metals.
As a Christian company, Genesis Gold Group has maintained a perfect 5 out of 5 rating with the Better Business Bureau. Their faith-driven values allow them to help Americans protect their life’s savings without the gimmicks used by most precious metals companies. Man oh man.
I read the Bible daily. Changed my life after wanting to lose it.
I know what is within and guess what? BAPTISING is an UNNECESSARY and silly ‘sacrament’. Yeah, I did it too. I WAS a Catholic…Communioned and Confirmed. Although I was never MOLESTED. Then I actually read the Book of God’s Words.
The story is amazing, but Greg Laurie, as much as I appreciate the man, is just another man confused because he cannot read well. The death of Jesus and His resurrection to life eternal is OUR WAY to the same. BELIEVING.
The TRUTH, the WAY and the LIFE are in the RESSURRECTED JESUS CHRIST and a FULL BELIEF in the righteousness and forgiveness IN HIS SHED BLOOD, not a man-made ‘baptism’.
The Gospel…the only way to eternity, is in the BE L I E F-a full and controlling B E L I E F that the Christ Jesus was. That he suffered here for His words. He shed his blood for the forgiveness of EVERY SIN COMMITTED by man be FORGIVEN IF YOU KNOW THE CHRIST JESUS Died for You and I and we can be free of sin IF YOU BELIEVE He was IS and forever shall be THE RISEN LORD. No baptism can do what Jesus the Christ did for every sinner.
