These trends persist even as federal incentives, including a $7,500 tax credit for new EVs and $4,000 for used ones, are set to expire on September 30, 2025. Additionally, EVs will lose their longstanding privilege of accessing carpool lanes without passengers after that date, a perk that has been in place for two decades.
